You should always be aware of your surroundings when you are navigating through crypto-protocols. "Connect Wallet". Different blockchains are supported by different wallets. Metamask, for example, is a wallet that supports multiple blockchains. Metamask’s connections are not always easy to establish. To make them work, you need to adjust some settings. The article below will explain how to integrate the Binance Smart Chain into Metamask. You can now freely use dApps that are created using the Binance Smart Chain.
What is Metamask?
When you do crypto transactions, whether it's someone sending you some crypto or vice versa, you need a way to perform these actions. Metamask, a virtual tool that lets you perform crypto-transactions. The device is also known as a "crypto wallet". The term is not used in this context. "wallet" itself is a bit of a misnomer because when it comes to crypto, rather than the concept of ownership of these crypto assets, it's probably more accurate to say you "have access" They are.
It's a virtual device because it's not something you can touch but only see with your eyes. The main way it exists is as a browser add-on, which pops up on your web browser. There is also a mobile app, which allows you to use it on the go. "hold" It in your hands. The beauty of Metamask is that it's:
- Permission-less Everyone can set up a account. There is no KYC required.
- Get your Data for Free It is not possible to use its services without revealing your personal details. This means that advertisers will never be able to snoop on you. Metamask earns money instead from online products and fees.
- Open-source You can check the security features of the wallet if you have the ability to read the computer code. If there is something that you find wrong you could receive a reward through their bounty program.

What is Binance smart chain?
Binance has a strong presence in the world of crypto. The company began as a centralized crypto exchange, and it is well-known for its wide range of trading assets. The majority of assets may have started in a centralised exchange. Binance is a decentralised exchange, so it’s normal for the price to fluctuate a bit before settling at a more reasonable value. Binance is not just an exchange. It has its own blockchain. This was originally called Binance Chain. However, this does lack smart contract functionality. This blockchain was designed primarily to be used for token issuance and trading. Binance launched the Binance Smart Chain, which has EVM compatibility and smart contract functionality.
Binance had announced earlier in 2022 that both chains would be merged into what was known as BNB."Build and Build") chain. Binance Chain is now known as BNB Beacon Chain, while Binance Smart Chain's new name is BNB Smart Chain. We will continue to use the BSC abbreviation throughout the article, as it applies both to the old name and the new one.
BSC also has its token BNB that can be used to pay fees on the exchange. You may have dust (i.e. minuscule amounts of assets that didn't get traded entirely, you can convert these dust amounts to BNB. There are a plethora of dApps built on BSC, including my favorite Pancake Swap because of the cute NFTs!) They are popular among crypto users because they have low fees. Then, how do you use these dApps to your advantage? That's where Metamask comes in!
Metamask Installation
Metamask is available in both mobile and browser versions. However, the article below will guide you through how to set up your Metamask wallet via the browser extensions. Once that's set up, the mobile version only requires a recovery phrase, known as a seed phrase, to gain access. So let's get started with the basics!
Visit the Metamask website to download your wallet. Chrome is the browser extension most often used. Other browsers, such as Brave Firefox, and Edge, are also supported.
If you choose to restore a wallet after the download, the option is yours. If you are creating a new wallet, you will need to record the recovery phrase. This should be kept in a secure place. If possible, make multiple copies. If you lose this and forget your password, it will be a catastrophe (and I'm not exaggerating). You cannot get access to the wallet from anyone, even Metamask. It's also the number one thing you don't tell anyone about, not even those offering to help you recover lost assets. It just doesn't work that way.
Tip: It is not recommended to store the seed phrase in your computer or cloud. You can also keep a record of it using a mobile app, such as Evernote. Never know when your computer might be hacked.
The Wallet Configuration
Metamask defaults to the Ethereum blockchain. Metamask allows you to add additional networks, as it supports multiple chains. This needs to be done manually, which we'll show you how.
Configure Metamask for BSC
The first thing you need to do is click the link. "Add Network". After that, you’ll be taken to a different page which allows you to add new information. BSC has a testnet and a mainnet. Mainnet, or the “real” version for transactions is what you use. Testnet was created to be used as a testing platform. Below are the details for each:
Mainnet
Smart Chain
New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/
ChainID: 56
BNB
Block Explorer URL: https://bscscan.com
Testnet
Smart Chain Testnet is the name of this network.
New RPC URL: https://data-seed-prebsc-1-s1.binance.org:8545/
ChainID: 97
BNB
Block Explorer URL: https://testnet.bscscan.com
Metamask will switch automatically to the newly added network once you have successfully added it. BNB has been used in place of ETH as a standard currency. Note that the wallet address remains the same, whether it's for Ethereum or BSC. Therefore, please take extra caution when transacting to ensure it's the right network. The Show/Hide Testnet option refers only to the Ethereum ones, just in case you're wondering.
First Transaction on Testnet
Whoopee! We've got the network added successfully—time to do a test. Let's see how it works on the Testnet. That way, we don't have to worry about lost funds, and you get to try it out yourself.
We need to get some BNB into the account, so click on the copy icon to copy the wallet address, then head over to Binance Smart Chain Faucet for some free BNB. Copy the wallet address, and then click the Give me BNB option. BNB will now appear in your wallet. Similar steps would be taken in an actual transaction. You can either give your wallet’s address to someone or add it as an address for withdrawal if the exchange is sending you funds.
Now that we've gotten some BNB let's send them to someone. Assuming you've gotten hold of another person's wallet address, click on the Send button. You should always leave enough for gas costs. In this case, you don't need to worry about the ETH gas fees as we're transacting on the BNB network. You will see the gas fee cost after clicking on Next. If you're happy with everything (now's a good time to double-check the receiving address AND the network), click the Confirm button and away we go.
If you confirm the transaction, it is irreversible. If you didn't realise any mistakes in the transaction until now, I'm sorry. You could lose your funds.
Metamask connected to BSC-dAPP
As a bit of extra info, we'll also show you how to connect your Metamask with a dAPP on the BSC network. To begin, go to the dAPP’s webpage and click the “Connect Wallet” button. This is typically found in the top-right corner. Select Metamask and follow the instructions. Finally, click Connect, and you're done!
You can also read our conclusion.
Now that you've learned how to add the BSC network to Metamask, it's a similar process for adding other EVM-compatible networks like Polygon and Fantom. Although it might seem complicated, the actual process is fairly straightforward. It’s also easy to use with dApps. So I hope you're now confident in your ability to use Metamask on the BSC network and explore the array of dApps on offer.
