AI decentralized autonomous group ai16z has modified its identify to ElizaOS following issues from tech enterprise capital agency Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) over model confusion.
Eliza Labs founder Shaw Walters posted an replace to ai16z’s Discord server on Sunday, positioning the change as a ahead pivot.
“As we continue to expand across multiple countries, develop our core technology, and foster an incredible community of builders, we are implementing a comprehensive rebranding initiative to ElizaOS,” Walters wrote.
Whereas Walters didn’t elaborate on the rationale behind the identify change, ai16z Chris Dixon, managing associate at a16z, mentioned in an interview with Unchained Crypto the similarities between the 2 entities “was creating a little bit of confusion.”
“I believe they are in the process of changing it,” Dixon reportedly mentioned. “We’ve asked them to.”
Launched in October 2024, ai16z is a decentralized autonomous group that operates as a enterprise capital agency run by autonomous AI brokers. In January, Eliza Labs launched the ElizaOS, an open-source platform on the Solana blockchain designed for constructing and managing AI brokers and simulations.
Walters credited the mission's “rapid growth” and broad tech adoption to its contributors and introduced plans to pursue vital web2 and web3 partnerships.
The mission's native token is down greater than 22% to $0.56 and an additional 77% from its January 2 all-time excessive of $2.47, CoinGecko information reveals.
In a separate interview with Unchained Crypto, Walters highlighted Eliza Labs' enlargement past synthetic intelligence to robotics.
"If LLMs are the brain, Eliza and similar frameworks are the body. It connects to social media platforms and LLMs and runs fully locally out of the box, so you don’t have to rely on OpenAI,” Walters said. “We focus on making it work on local hardware, phones, custom devices, and soon, robots. It’s a personal passion of mine."
Eliza will proceed to be the DAO’s mascot, in keeping with Walters. The $ai16z ticker will stay the identical, with future modifications to be voted on by the group.
Walters has claimed the DAO wouldn’t search to create extra tokens, and the contract tackle and roadmap would stay unchanged.
Representatives for a16z and ElizaOS didn’t instantly reply to requests for remark by Decrypt.
